In this Bollywood class, we will focus on the basic steps of Bollywood style dancing; including frequently used footwork, hand gestures, head, and eye movements. We will learn some fun routines to happy, high-energy music. Classes are easy to follow, Gaitrie breaks down the steps and offers modifications to the comfort level of the participant, making it accessible to all levels.
Contemporary Bollywood w/ Holli Simme
Contemporary Bollywood is a new class created by the fusion of both techniques in a unique style all its own. This one hour class lead by instructor Holli Simme will leave you feeling inspired and energized from beginner to advanced adult dancer.
In this Semi-Classical Bollywood, the class will consist of intricate steps and choreography along with a great emphasis on the performance aspect of dance. Technique and dance conditioning are emphasized. Routines are more technical, choreography more complex, we will include intricate footwork and mudras (hand gestures), we will also incorporate complex elements such as floor routines, turns, formations.
Gaitrie is a certified RYS 200hr yoga instructor. She attained her certification through East Meets West Yoga Studios, Buffalo, NY in 2015 and in 2017 she completed her certification for Kids Yoga through Kidding Around Yoga. She offers students a grounding practice, we will follow Vinyasa flow through sun salutations and your breath to link poses into a continuous flow. During class modifications are offered, as well as deeper versions of the postures. Each practitioner can work at their own level.
My journey into yoga started over 10 years ago; it started as a way to heal myself from an injury from dance and to help make my body feel stronger. Although I was looking for a way to get better I didn’t realize that it would become something that I would be so passionate about. I dug deep into my practice, spending many days inside the yoga studios of New York City searching for something. What I found was a blessing, those years gave me the chance to step out of the asanas and indulge into a stronger self-awareness of the mind.

Kids Bollywood Classes start Sunday, January 14th
In this introductory beginner class, your little one will learn basic dance forms from India such as Bharatanatyam, Garba Raas, Bhangra, Folk, and Bollywood. Classes will also include a cultural component for students to learn about Indian culture and traditions, Hindi vocabulary, mudras, props, and we will end each class with yoga cool down and meditation.
A great way to get mommy and baby moving. In this class, we will move and groove to Bollywood tunes while building basic dance foundations such as movement skills, musicality, rhythm and confidence. Classes will include props and will include dance forms from India such as Bharatanatyam, Garba Raas, Bhangra, Folk, and Bollywood.
